Sri Narasimha-caturdasi
On Tuesday May 1st, the auspicous appearance of Lord Narasimha was celebrated at Govindaji Gardens.

Devotees arrived early in the morning to take special darsana of Yoga-Narasimha decorated with candana and flower garlands. At 10:30 am Bhakti Vijnana Giri Maharaja gave class about Narasimha’s pastimes and the ontological position of Prahlada in the Gaudiya sampradaya. After class Vamanadeva Dasa, Balarama Dasa and other devotees sang bhajanas while other devotees began cooking for the offering in the evening.

At 3:30 pm pujaris took off the candana from Yoga-Narasimha and have Him an oil bath. At 4:30 the main abhiseka began with the bathing of the salagramas with pancamrta. Yoga-Narasimha was bathed in milk, rose water, candana water and other scented items. After the abhiseka, bhoga was offered to Sri Sri Gaura-Radha-Madhava while Yoga-Narasimha was decorated again in preparation for the main arati at dusk.

At twilight, conches were blown and bells were rung as the doors opened to reveal Lord Narasimha fully decorated. Arati was performed by Rupanuga Dasa as the devotees performed nama-sankirtana.

The program ended at 7:00 with guests and devotees honoring the Lord’s remnants.

Srila Rupa Goswami Samadhi Reconstruction Progresses

Italy Center Opens [Srila Prabhupada Seva Ashram]
Gaura Purnima was also celebrated this year by the devotees from Sri Narasingha Chaitanya Matha in Italy with the opening of the Srila Prabhupada Seva Ashram in Como, along the foothills of the snow clad Alps. Opening ceremonies included the installation of the Deity of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Krishna-kirtan, bhajans, discourses on the life and precepts of Sri Chaitanya and a grand feast of Maha-prasadam.

On the main altar Sri Giriraja Govardhan was also worshipped along with Mahaprabhu and on the side altar the Deity of Sri Narasimha-deva was present, inspiring and protecting the sankirtan movement.

Srila Prabhupada Seva Ashram is now officially open and all devotees are invited to come for darshan and classes when they are in the area.

Sri Gaura-purnima 2007 Celebrations

The advent of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu was celebrated at Govindaji Gardens on 3rd March 2007.

After decorating the Deities, the devotees sat down for bhajans and class given by Srila Visnu Maharaja and Giri Maharaja. Srila Visnu Maharaja spoke on the eight verses of Mahaprabhu's Siksastakam and Giri Maharaja spoke on the external and internal reasons for Mahaprabhu's appearance in the world.

Devotees enthusiastically sang Srila Sridhara Maharaja's "Prema-dhama-deva Stotram" and bhajans led by Vamanadeva Dasa and Caitanya Dasa went on from 11:00 am to 5:30 pm.

At 5:30 the abhiseka of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu began. Visnu Maharaja and Giri Maharaja bathed the Deity of the Lord in various substances as Kunjabihari Dasa led the devotees in chanting the Holy Names.

After the abhiseka was over, sandhya-arati began and Visnu Maharaja offered arati to the Deities.

Over 40 preparations were offered to the Deities, cooked by Gaura-gopala Dasa, Sri Gopala Dasa, Paurnamasi Dasi and Anuradha Dasi. The Lord's remnants were honored by about 70 devotees and guests.

This Gaura-purnima was especially auspicious since it was also a lunar eclipse, just as when Mahaprabhu Himself appeared in Nadiya in 1486 CE.

Prabhupada Returns to his Rooms at Radha Damodara
On the auspicious day of Siva-ratri (16th February 2007) at 6:30 am, the Deity of Srila Prabhupada was ceremoniously returned to his rooms at the Radha-Damodara temple. Presiding over the function was Srila B.G. Narasingha Maharaja, Srila B.V. Tripurari Maharaja and Sri Nirmal Chandra Goswami.

The deity of Srila Prabhupada was carried from the room where the deities of the Six Goswamis reside, to his bhajan-kutira amongst kirtana and the chanting of Vedic mantras.

BV Giri Maharaja and Krsna Balarama Goswami organized the abhiseka of Nirmal Chandra Goswami's personal deity of Srila Prabhupada. The deity was bathed in pancamrta by all the sannyasis and devotees that were present.

Next, Srila Narasingha Maharaja offered arati to Srila Prabhupada in his bhajana-kutira as Srila Tripurari Maharaja led the devotees in singing Narottama Dasa's Sri Guru-carana-padma.

An offering of Sri Sri Radha-Damodara mahaprasadam was made to Srila Prabhupada and distributed to all the assembled Vaisnavas and guests.

The return of Srila Prabhupada's deity to his rooms at Radha-Damodara comes after a long legal battle between ISKCON and the sevaites at Radha-Damodara Temple. For more information one can see Krsna Talk 69 - Prabhupada's Rooms at Radha Damodar Temple.

Bhumi Puja at Srila Rupa Goswami's Samadhi
Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura’s appearance day was also observed by our devotees that were in Vrndavana at the time, by performing the Bhumi-puja, beginning the reconstruction of the samadhi of Srila Rupa Goswami at Radha-Damodara temple.

The humble event was presided over by Srila B.G. Narasingha Maharaja and the sevaite-acarya of Sri Sri Radha-Damodara, Sri Nirmal Chandra Goswami. The event was auspiciously performed and it is expected that the new samadhi will be completed shortly after Gaura Purnima.

The old samadhi has been removed to below the ground level and the new stone for construction stands ready for assembly.

Plans for reconstructing the bhajan-kutira of Rupa Goswami and also for the construction of a large kirtana hall are also standing by ready to be implemented.

Avirbhava Mahotsava of Sri Srimad Prabhupada Sarasvati Thakura
Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura's appearance was observed on Wednesday February 7th.

The program began with guru-puja. Gaura-gopala Dasa Brahmacari led the devotees in singing 'Sri Srila Prabhupada-padma Stavaka' as everyone offered flowers at the lotus feet of Srila Sarasvati Thakura.

BV Giri Maharaja then sang 'Srila Prabhupada Vandana' - a composition in praise of Sarasvati Thakura written during his lifetime by Sri Gopala Govinda Mahant.

Srila Visnu Maharaja spoke from 'Encounters With Divinity' wherein Srila Sridhara Maharaja talks about the beginning of Sarasvati Thakura's Gaudiya Matha. Giri Maharaja explained the significance of Sarasvati Thakura's birth in Puri-ksetra in relation to the Puranic verse 'Hyutkale purusottamat'. Vraja-vallabha Prabhu (a visiting disciple of Srila Sridhara Maharaja) spoke on how all devotees of our line are intrinsically and firmly connected with Sarasvati Thakura and how he is the main point of reference for our Sarasvata parampara.

Visit by Sripada Jayadvaita Maharaja
Sripada jayadvaita Maharaja visited Govindaji Gardens for two days on Friday 2nd February. Maharaja spoke to many of the devotees here on various spiritual subject matters and gave class on Bhagavad-gita on Saturday morning.

Visit by Sripada BB Bodhayana Maharaja
On Bhaimi Ekadasi (29th Januaru 2007), Sripada BB Bodhayana Maharaja, president of Sri Gopinatha Gaudiya Matha and successor of Srila BP Puri Gosvami Maharaja, visited Govindaji Gardens.

Bodhayana Maharaja met and spoke in length with Srila Narasingha Maharaja and other members of the matha. Maharaja and his entourage also took prasadam and bathed in the holy Kaveri River before leaving for a preaching engagement in Tamil Nadu.

Nityananda-trayodasi
On the appearance of Sri Nityananda Prabhu was celebrated at Govindaji Gardens. In the morning Bhajans were sung in praise of Lord Nityananda and then Srila Narasingha Maharaja gave a class. The format for the class was questions and answers and Srila Narasingha Maharaja had requested devotees to ask questions on the topic of Sri Nityananda Prabhu and guru-tattva. Devotees responded by asking many intelligent questions and Srila Narasingha Maharaja gave excellent answers to them. The program ended with a feast offered to Sri Sri Radha-Madhava.

Wedding of Drdha and Gandarvika
On 24 January at the Sai Vishram Resort in Baindur (just north of Udupi, South India) the wedding of Drdha and Gandharvika took place in grand style.

Vasant Pancami
On January 23rd, in order to herald the new season of Spring, the devotees of Govindaji Gardens dressed Their Lordships Sri Sri Gaura-Radha-Madhava in yellow and made special decorations for the Deities.

Generally at this time in Vrndavana, all the Deities are dressed in yellow garments (the color of Spring) and are offered a variety of opulent foodstuffs and the altars are decorated with new buds, mango leaves and flowers.

Visit by Sripada Guru Prasad Maharaja
Sripada Guru Prasad Maharaja visited the Mulky Hare Krsna ashrama for five days recently. Maharaja spoke with Narasingha Maharaja and other devotees on various spiritual subject matters and gave class from the Chaitanya Charitamrta.
