In this class on Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 5.9.33, given at Yamunā Devī’s āśrama in British Colombia on June 26th 2001, Swami B.G. Narasingha Mahārāja explains how a Vaiṣṇava is known by his aspiration, and not by his current condition. He describes how when a devotee tries to offer service, Kṛṣṇa leaves looks past any defect and only accepts his good intentions.
Mahārāja states that by nature the jīvas are eternal serving units, and in this world they are guided by guru, sādhu and śāstra. However, in the spiritual world, love (prema) is the only guide for the residents there.
He goes on to say that in actuality we are not servants of Kṛṣṇa - we are slaves of Kṛṣṇa and slaves of love. He also says how dāsya-rasa is the fundamental rasa found in all rasas and briefly explains the various theories regarding prema being inherent/not inherent within the jīva. Entrance into rasa can only occur when one is firmly established as a servant of Kṛṣṇa. Mahārāja also explains the different concepts of the Mahā-mantra in this world and in the spiritual world.
Narasiṅgha Mahārāja discusses about having respect for the Holy Name and those things connected to it. He also explains what is preaching and what is to be preached, and how to approach higher subject matters.
